What should I rim the glass with?
Black sanding sugar would be fantastic on the glass rim, if you can find it. I’ve discovered it on Amazon as well as in nearby cake decorating stores.
However, to achieve the stunning purple hue on the sugar rim I use purple food coloring. I combine lime juice with a tiny bit of red and blue food coloring, or dark purple food coloring. After dipping the shot glasses in the purple liquid, they should be dipped in sugar. As the food coloring seeps into the sugar, it turns purple.
To avoid food coloring, you can simply use sugar and lime juice. It won’t appear purple, but it will still give the beverage a pleasant sweetness.

To extend the duration of the drink, swap out the ⅓ cup lime juice for 1 cup of citrus soda and pour it into a highball filled with crushed ice.
