Im looking for advice on how to handle a situation. We had a painter use paint thinner (not mineral spirits) to clean 2000 sq ft of a brand new vinyl floor. I contacted the manufacturer and this was the response:
“This may cause degradation of the finish and/or wear layer. If this is neutralized with water and is not applied again this degradation should not continue. If this has affected the finish or wear layer increased or premature wear may be seen overtime.”
The contractor who installed the floor is also doing the painting. How should I handle this with company owner? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Related Stories

DO NOT pour mineral spirits directly on the surface of the vinyl. Rinse thoroughly with clean, wet cloths and neutral pH cleaner. Blue or white scrub pads can be used on residue.

A Try cleaning an inconspicuous area with a brush moistened with mineral spirits (paint thinner). If the specks are tar, the solvent should soften and remove them. Mineral spirits will not harm vinyl siding or most painted surfaces, but you should test it on each new surface. If the specks come off, follow the mineral-spirits treatment by washing the surface with a detergent solution, then rinsing. Keep in mind that mineral spirits are flammable and must be used with care.
