If an unfortunate event arises where you are left with a nonfunctioning lid, you don’t have to buy a whole new Instant Pot. Replacement lids are available on Instant Pot’s site for 3-, 6- and 8-quart Ultra, Duo, Duo-Plus, Viva, Nova Plus and Smart Bluetooth models.
Now, I have to say THIS IS PROBABLY A TERRIBLE IDEA and pressure cookers should not be played with and Im a trained professional on a closed course, and past performance is no indicator of future returns, and your mileage may vary. In other words, dont try this at home.
But, again, THIS PROBABLY VOIDS MY WARRANTY AND I AM IN NO WAY SUGGESTING THAT just because the lids are exactly the same size and designed for the same cooker base that YOU SHOULD SWAP THEM. THATS A BAD IDEA, KIDS.
Sure enough, they work fine. I kind of knew this already. A couple of times the lids got swapped in the cabinet, I didnt notice, and I ran the Ultra with the Duo Plus lid. It kind of figures that the two are interchangeable.
In my Instant Pot Ultra review, I went on and on about the fantastic auto-locking lid. Its amazing, but my frustrations with the Ultras control knob were sending me back to my trusty Instant Pot Duo.
That led several commenters to ask: why didnt I put the Ultra lid on the Duo Plus, and get the best of both worlds?

FAQ
Are Instant Pots interchangeable?
Can I use Instant Pot without lid?
When should I replace my Instant Pot?
Is it safe to use Instant Pot with dent?
Does Instant Pot have a replacement lid?
Replacement lids are available on Instant Pot’s site for 3-, 6- and 8-quart Ultra, Duo, Duo-Plus, Viva, Nova Plus and Smart Bluetooth models. You can also add a tempered glass lid to your cart, which can be used in conjunction with the sauté and slow-cook programs.
What kind of lid does an Instant Pot have?
It has a passive steam vent built right into the lid, and this is often preferred for slow cooking in an Instant Pot. Silicone lids: These lids are used to promote an airtight seal and also keep your pot both spill-proof and watertight. They are made from silicone and can be used the same as other lids if you wish to.
Does Instant Pot have a pressure release switch?
In some models, like the Instant Pot Max, the steam release switch is replaced by a button. It is not removable and resets itself to the Sealed position each time you remove the lid. In other models, the pressure release switch just sits loosely on top of the lid. (Don’t worry if you notice it jiggling—totally normal!)
Do Instant Pot sealing rings need to be replaced?
Sealing rings are an important component of your Instant Pot. If they are cracked, stretched or broken, your Instant Pot will not come to pressure. The Instant Pot Sealing Rings require regular replacement and upkeep to keep your pressure cooker working properly. Instant Pot recommends replacing every 6 to 12 months.
