ABOUT US

Since we opened our doors in 1963, Tasty Pizza – Hangar 45 has been about one thing: providing a wonderful food experience for our community right here in Minneapolis.

We pride ourselves on being a family-friendly restaurant that crafts delicious homemade goodies like pizzas, wings, burgers and fries your whole family will enjoy. And don’t forget our adjoining bar, “Hangar 45,” which features a WWII aviation theme, and has 14 TVs and 3 110” big screens — perfect for watching Vikings games and enjoying our amazing food and drink specials. Bring in your current Military ID and it’s happy hour all the time!

We know what our customers love, that’s why we’ve loaded our menu with a variety of delicious options. But no matter what you’re ordering, our food is made fresh from scratch each and every day, starting with the freshest ingredients our chef can buy.

Our made to order pizzas don’t skimp on anything! We make our dough fresh each morning — never frozen — and roll it out right in our kitchen. Our sauce is made from a secret, time-tested family recipe (sorry, can’t share it!) that includes the finest tomatoes and spices. And as for our homemade sausage, well we’re pretty proud of that, too! We hand-make all of it, and we know you’ll agree that the taste is well worth the effort!

Our famous Jumbo Chicken wings are big enough to fly a B-52 Bomber, and are well-known and loved in our neighborhood. We have a full menu with something for everyone in the house — but don’t take our word for it! Check out our menu.

Just three months after Tasty Pizza was opened in 1963, founder Louie Sigorney took on a partner that was to shape the restaurant’s future. His name was Duane Estrem, my dad, but around here everyone knew him as “Fat Man.”

It’s hard to believe that a guy with the nickname Fat Man actually disliked pizza, but that was the case when he first came onboard. However, Duane continually tweaked Louie’s recipe, and after discovering what would become our secret family recipe, Duane fell in love with pizza. And his pizza recipe is still the one we use to this day!

About a year later, business was booming so Duane called on his friend John Huff to help out. Feeling a need to give back to the community that had given them so much, John and Duane became deeply involved with the northeast Minneapolis neighborhood they call home. They began supporting local athletic teams and helping with high school fundraisers, among many other community outreach initiatives. In fact, there probably hasn’t been a graduate from Heights who hasn’t had our spaghetti!

Today, I am proud to continue my dad’s tradition. I’m proud to stay true to the original “Tasty Pizza.” In 2005, in an effort to always be providing a place that supports Minneapolis’ wonderful community spirit, my wife Tawnya and I added Hangar 45 to Tasty Pizza. Hangar 45 is modeled after the passion for World War II aviation both my dad and I shared.

We’re happy to make our dream a great place to for you to bring your family and friends. Were your go-to pizza delivery in NE Minneapolis and the Columbia Heights area. Order online or come on by to meet the crew, and stay for the food — we know you will not be disappointed!
