Only three ingredients to make these easy Slow Cooker Grape Jelly Meatballs! Great for any party.
Frozen meatballs are easily made in the slow cooker, besides this easy recipe I love to make barbecue meatballs, cranberry meatballs, and meatball subs.
My go-to meatball recipe has always been with barbecue sauce until I tried crockpot grape jelly meatballs! What amazing flavor these meatballs have. I can’t just eat one but MUST go back for many plates of these. You can also use this recipe to make Grape Jelly Little Smokies!
Replace the Grape Jelly with apricot preserves, orange marmalade, canned cranberry sauce, raspberry preserves, or hot pepper jelly. Replace the Ketchup with Heinz chili sauce or barbecue sauce. If swapping the ketchup for chili sauce, it is not a spicy sauce.
How to make Grape Jelly Meatballs:
- Grape Jelly – Grape jelly (I use Welch’s) is the magic ingredient in this recipe. It is not overpowering, it’s a subtle flavor and add sweetness to the recipe.
- Chili Sauce – Look for Heinz or the store brand
- Meatballs – These are found in the frozen section in your store.
What is chili sauce?
- There are different types of chili sauce, the one in this recipe is near the ketchup in your grocery store (I use Heinz chili sauce).
- Heinz chili sauce is made from tomatoes, garlic, sweet peppers, and aromatic spices
- DO NOT use sriracha hot chili sauce or sweet Thai chili sauce unless you want it to be VERY spicy.

What is a good substitute for Cantaloupe?
Cantaloupe is a type of muskmelon that is available in mid to late summer. Cantaloupe should be sweet and juicy when ripe. Although their flavor profile will differ, honeydew, Persian melon, or any other muskmelon can be a substitute for cantaloupe in a recipe. Those who are allergic to muskmelons may want to opt for watermelon, mango, or papaya as a substitute. Late summer farmer’s markets are great places to find sweet high quality cantaloupe and other melons.
What can I use instead of grape jelly in a crockpot?
Cranberry: For cranberry flavor, try my cranberry meatballs made in a slow cooker or use jellied cranberry sauce. Apricot: Instead of grape jelly, you can substitute apricot preserves. If there are chunks in your preserves, puree the preserves before adding them to the crockpot. Orange: Try orange marmalade instead of grape jelly.
Can grape jelly replace currant jelly?
Grape jelly stood in for currant jelly when I attempted to prepare a glaze for tofu. The fruity richness brought to the glaze by this yummy jelly went wonderfully with the savory tofu. Raspberry jelly tastes like currant jelly—sweet and tart. It can replace currant jelly in equal proportions in many recipes.
