Silpat® products are designed to make your life in the kitchen easier and let your creativity run wild. We recommend that you carefully follow our molds and mats’ instructions for use to ensure you can use your products for as long as possible and have the best possible experience.

Before you use your Silpat for the first time, and before and after each use, clean your mat or mold with a soft sponge and soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and vigorously shake off any excess water, then air dry on a flat surface. Your mat or mold can also be put in the dishwasher, but we recommend hand-washing to prolong your product’s service life.

Don’t fold your mat, make sure to store it flat. You can also roll it up, either in its original box, which we specially designed for easy storage, or with our Silband storage band. Don’t put anything on top of a rolled mat, as this may damage it.

Don’t bend your mold, make sure to store it flat. You can keep it in its original box, which we specially designed for easy storage. Don’t put anything on top of a mold, as this may damage it.

Is a Silpat mat better than parchment paper?

Silicone mats are also excellent for evenly distributing heat (even better than parchment). If you have wonky, older sheet trays, using a silicone mat will help correct hot spots. They also help encourage spreading and keep baked goods from browning too much on the bottom.

Is a Silpat the same as silicone?

Parchment is also a great option if you’re a bulk baker, because you can just throw-and-go for pan after pan of pastries. Silicone baking mats (also sold under the brand name Silpat®) are flexible, nonstick mats made out of fiberglass and food grade silicone.

What is the purpose of a silicone baking mat?

Designed to create an even, nonstick surface on standard baking sheets, silicone baking mats come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. You just put the mat on your sheet, add your cooke dough balls, and bake like usual without having to worry that your cookies will stick to the pan or have burnt bottoms.

What can you use a silpat for?

We use our silpat in place of parchment paper or aluminum foil when baking just about everything. It’s particularly great for baking very delicate things like crackers, meringue, and puff pastry.

What is a silpat in baking?

What is silpat® technology?

Silpat® technology, also available in the Silpain® microperforated version for crusty bread and crisp pizza dough, was quickly embraced by many chefs, particularly in the bakery and pastry industries. Nowadays, the brand is so popular that pros no longer say “a baking mat”, they say “a Silpat®”.
