Learning how to make lavender soap at home is easy. The scent of lavender is so relaxing, you may find you want to keep them for yourself instead of giving them away as gifts as you intended! Just be sure to make extra soap for yourself.
Instead of infusing in the oil use the lavender buds to make lavender water for your lye liquid. I have noticed that since using the lavender water my lavender soap has an extra fresh lavender scent. Its like the lavender water makes the scent pop. I just take the lavender buds and put them in a ziploc bag.

How to Make Lavender Soap
- Place 1 pound of glycerin goat’s milk soap inside a microwavable bowl.
- Melt the soap in the microwave at 10 second intervals until soap is fully melted and creamy in appearance. Stir between intervals. It takes about 6-8 intervals in total to fully melt. Don’t overcook as the soap may burn.
- Work quickly as the goat’s milk begins to harden as it cools.
- Add essential oil and stir completely.
- Pour the mixture into the soap molds.
- Before the surface of the soap sets, insert a sprig of lavender leaves onto the top of the soap. If the surface has already hardened, gently poke the surface with the end of the stem to release some melted soap to help hold the leaves in place.
- Let the soap fully set in the mold for at least 1 hour before removing.
- Once soap is removed from mold, trim any rough edges with a sharp knife.
- wrap it in decorative paper or tissue and tie with a simple piece of twine.
