As a professional chef, I’ve had a chance to handle a lot of different cookware brands. There are a surprising number of high-quality cookware brands that are not made in China! Customers often prefer cookware made in the USA and the EU because of the strict manufacturing regulations in these regions.
In this article, you’ll find a comprehensive list of cookware made in the USA and the EU. I will also share my favorite product for each type of cookware – nonstick, cast iron, carbon steel, etc.
The main brands are Heritage Steel, Nordic Ware, All-Clad, and Made In—though Heritage Steel doesn’t make non stick. Meaning if you’re on the hunt for USA-made non stick cookware, your choices are between All-Clad, Nordic Ware, and Made In.

This Lodge Cast Iron Double Dutch Oven is one of my go-to pans, and its an affordable option; its truly the best of both worlds.
I like this option over the multitude of others because its a double Dutch oven. This means that the flat lid converts into a skillet. This is handy at home but even more useful on camping trips. The only downside is that raw cast iron is reactive to acidic foods, but you can read more about that in our deep dive into cast iron safety.
Where is it made? This Dutch oven is made in Lodge’s foundry in Pittsburg, Tennessee. But please note that some of Lodge’s enamel cast iron is made in China.

Our Favorite Pots and Pans Not Made in China
The US (especially Tennessee and Wisconsin) and the EU (France and Germany in particular) are home to lots of cookware factories! All the brands on the list below are available for sale in the US.
If a brand appears on this list, it doesn’t mean that every product from that company is made outside of China. I include which items to look for in the description.
This list only includes cookware where the body of the pan is wholly manufactured and constructed in the EU or US. Some pans have handles made elsewhere and attached in the US.

- Lodge– This affordable brand manufactures cast iron, carbon steel, and high-end enameled cast iron in its South Pittsburg, Tennessee factory. The less expensive enameled cast iron from Lodge is made in China.
- Made In Cookware– Made In is a US-based company based in Austin, Texas. Its cookware is either made in the US (in Tennessee) or Italy.
- All-Clad– This is a very popular American cookware brand, especially for stainless steel. Only its Copper Core and D5 nonstick collections are manufactured in the USA.
- Heritage Steel– This family-owned business specializes in high-quality clad stainless steel cookware. Its factory is based in Clarksville, Tennessee.
- 360 Cookware – Known for its stainless steel, 360 cookware is made in Wisconsin with global materials.
- Marquette– This small company manufactures carbon steel, cast iron, and enamel cast iron cookware in Michigan’s upper peninsula.
- Cast-a-Way- Based in South Carolina, this small company is a passion project owned by two friends. Their skillets and signature Pioneer pans are all hand-forged.
- Copper State Forge- This is a small cookware company run out of Goodyear, Arizona. They offer a range of roasters and skillets that are hand-forged by their father-son team.
- Blu Skillet Ironware- This is a small cookware studio owned by two friends in Seattle. They specialize in frying pans, French skillets, and gratins made from carbon steel and cast iron.
- Smithey– This company specializes in carbon steel and offers a wider range of pan options than competitors of the same size. Its pans are forged in Charleston, South Carolina.
- North West Skillet Company- As the name suggests, this company specializes in skillets. They are hand-forged by one man, blacksmith Peter Clark, in Northeast Oregon.
- Solidteknics- Mainly based in Australia, this brand has a few carbon steel options available that are manufactured in Chicago.
- Nordic Ware– This is yet another US brand that does its manufacturing in Tennessee, although the company is from Minnesota. It is known for its aluminum bakeware, but it also offers an aluminized steel line of cookware with three layers of ceramic, PTFE-free, nonstick coating.
- Calphalon– Calphalon is a large US-based company that manufactures most of its products in China. However, its Elite range is made in the USA. This is a nonstick cookware collection created in partnership with William Sonoma.
- Vollrath– This brand manufactures the majority of its cookware in China. Its Wear-Ever line is the only nonstick collection made in the USA. Its carbon steel pans are US-made as well.
- Viking– This brand has an extensive range of cookware made from various materials, but only their 5-ply stainless steel professional line is made in the USA. The rest of their lines are made in China.
- Borough Furnace- This small company produces US-made enamel cast iron and raw cast iron by hand. It is based in the New York Finger Lakes
- The Field Company– This New York-based brand was started by two brothers who had a passion for cast iron cookware. Its products are made in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
- Finex– This company began as a small start-up making distinctive hexagonal cast iron pans. It was acquired by Lodge in 2019, but it still operates out of its original foundry.
- Lancaster Cast Iron Cookware– This is a new cast iron brand founded in 2018. They cast their cookware in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
- Nest Homeware- Known for its stunningly elegant cookware, Nest is another small cast iron brand made in the USA. It operates out of Providence, Rhode Island.
- Stargazer Cast Iron– This company breaks up its manufacturing across three states: Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Like many of these brands, this company focuses on cast iron.
- Butter Pat Cast Iron- Located in Alexandria, Virginia, Butter Pat is another great small cast iron company. All their pans are hand-cast by their 41-person team.
- Lifetime Cookware- This is a stainless steel company founded in 1909. Its factory is based in West Bend, Wisconsin.
- Staub– This company is world-renowned for its enamel cast iron cookware that is made in France. Some of its ceramic products are made in China.
- Le Creuset– This iconic brand manufactures its signature enameled cast iron in its foundry in Fresnoy-le-Grand, northern France. The pots that are made in France will have a stamp on the bottom to authenticate it. Some of its other ranges are made in various other countries. Its stainless steel is made in Portugal. The enamel-on-steel line is made in Thailand, and the stoneware is made in Thailand or China.
- de Buyer– This company makes most of its products in France, with few exceptions, so you will need to check the packaging on the individual item to confirm its lineage. De Buyer makes carbon steel, copper, and stainless steel cookware.
- Matfer Bourgeat – This commercial-quality brand has been making cookware since 1814. It is best known for its black carbon steel pan that was named #1 by America’s Test Kitchen.
- Emile Henry– This is a brand that focuses on 100% ceramic cookware and bakeware. Established in 1848, the brand prides itself on always being Made in France.
- Mauviel– Famous for its copper, this brand has been manufacturing cookware in France since 1830. Its factory is located in the Normandy village of Villedieu-les-Poeles. It also makes carbon steel.
- Cristel– This is a high-end cookware brand best known for its stainless steel cookware with removable handles. This cookware has been manufactured in Burgundy, France, since 1983.
- Fissler– Made in Germany since 1845, this brand manufacturer takes pride in locally made cookware. It offers ceramic, nonstick, and stainless steel options.
- Woll– This is a German brand founded in 1974 by chef Herbert Woll. Its primary focus is cast aluminum cookware.
- Zwilling– This is a mega brand that has a considerable range of high-quality cookware made in different locations. It offers stainless steel and aluminum pans as well as PTFE and ceramic nonstick options made in Germany.
- Stoneline– This German brand stands out because of its focus on keeping its production climate neutral. It offers nonstick and ceramic aluminum pans.
- Velosan– If you love colorful cookware, this brand is right up your street; it offers aluminum-core stainless steel cookware with a ceramic nonstick coating, all made in Germany.
